Expanding Local Transportation Options
The City of Manassas needs to invest in expanding local transportation options. Providing residents with more options for getting around, helps to reduce traffic congestion, and improve air quality. I will also fight for investments in infrastructure improvements, such as bike lanes and pedestrian walkways. Improving transportation options will make Manassas a more livable and attractive city for residents and businesses alike.
Strengthen Partnership with School Board
The Manassas City Council needs to have a strong, collaborative partnership with the local school board. This partnership is critical to ensuring that our children receive a high-quality education. The City Council and school board should work together on several initiatives, including:
1) Supporting our teachers and administrators. Our teachers and administrators are the backbones of our education system. They deserve our support and appreciation.
2) Ensuring that our schools have the resources they need to succeed. This includes providing adequate funding for classrooms, textbooks, and other materials.
3) Working to improve communication between the City Council and school board. We need to make sure that we are working together for the benefit of our students.
4) Advocating for our schools and students at the state and federal levels. We need to make sure that our elected officials at all levels of government are supporting public education.
Strengthening the Inclusiveness of the City Government
There is no question that our City government needs to be more representative of the people it serves. For too long, decisions have been made without input from those who are most affected. This has led to a feeling of exclusion and frustration among many residents.
One way to make our City government more inclusive is to ensure that all voices are heard. This can be done by holding more public meetings and forums, and by making sure that those meetings are well-publicized. Additionally, we need to make sure that our elected officials are accessible to all residents, not just those who have the time and resources to attend City Council meetings.
Another way to make our City government more inclusive is to ensure that it is representative of the diversity of our community. This can be done by recruiting diverse candidates for city government positions, and by appointing residents to Boards and Commissions who represent a variety of perspectives.
Grow the Local Economy
In order to continue growing the local economy, we must invest in our businesses and our workforce. We need to create an environment that is conducive to economic growth and development.
One way to do this is by investing in infrastructure. We need to maintain and improve our roads, sidewalks, and public transportation options. This will make it easier for businesses to operate and for people to get to work. We also need to invest in our schools and our parks. These are the places that make Manassas a great place to live and work.
We need to provide incentives for businesses to locate here. And we need to create a skilled workforce that can meet the needs of our businesses. These are just some of the ways that we can grow the economy in Manassas.
